FAXmaker users

All network users who wish to be able to send and receive faxes must be configured as FAXmaker users. You can add/remove users and edit user properties from the Licensed user node in the FAXmaker configuration.

To specify FAXmaker users:

Note: If you run the FAXmaker configuration wizard, you would have already specified FAXmaker users. If you did not run or complete the configuration wizard, FAXmaker will automatically bring up the FAXmaker user import dialog when you first run the FAXmaker configuration. To add licensed users;

  1. Right-click on the Licensed Users node. If you have a Windows NT/2000 network, select 'Import users'. This will bring up the FAXmaker user import dialog. FAXmaker will connect to your Domain controller and automatically list all Windows user accounts.

Importing users from the Windows NT/2000 user database

  1. Now, in the left pane, select the users that you wish to import as FAXmaker users and click Select>>. You can also choose Select All or if you want to remove a user, Remove<<.
  2. Click OK to create these users as FAXmaker users.

Ι If you do not have a Windows domain controller, select the name of another Windows NT computer that lists all the user accounts. Then click List users.

Importing FAXmaker users from a text file:

If your fax users are not available in a Windows user database, you can import the users from a text file. To do this:

  1. Right-click on the Licensed users node, and select 'Import users from file'.
  2. Select the text file with the user information. Make sure that the text file is formatted in the following way:

    "first name", "last name", "company", "department", "fax number", "voice number", "e-mail address", "display name", "internet e-mail address"

Field information

first name: can be empty

last name: can be empty

company: can be empty

department: can be empty

fax number: can be empty

voice number: can be empty

e-mail address: required - must be unique. If using Networks mode, append @FAXmaker to the user name, and use this as the email address.

display name : required; cannot be empty

internet e-mail address : can be empty

Specifying FAXmaker users manually

If you do not wish to import users from the Windows user database or from a text file, you can create the users manually, i.e. one by one. To do this:

Adding a user account manually

  1. Right-click on the Licensed users node and select 'New licensed User'. The New licensed user dialog will appear.
  2. Enter the user name and e-mail address. Make sure that the user login name is the same as the user uses to login to the network. (case sensitive). To enter the personal details of the users, click on Personal. When you are ready click OK. The user will now be created.

Note: The User login name is used to identify the user. So if the User login name you specify here is not the same as the network login name, the user will not be found and FAXmaker will report an error.
