Configuring DTMF Routing
Configuring DTMF routing is almost identical to configuring DID routing. Before configuring DTMF routing, enable DTMF routing for each fax line! To do this:
- Ensure you have a DTMF compatible fax device (for example a Multitech voice modem or a Brooktrout fax card)
- In the FAXmaker configuration go to the Lines/Devices node and open the properties window.
- Double-click on each installed fax line, go to the advanced tab and enable the option 'Number of DTMF/DID digits to capture'.
Note: If the option to AutoRoute using the DTMF is grayed out, you don't have a voice modem.
Adding DTMF routes
To add a new DTMF route
1. Right click on the Routing > DID/DTMF node, and select 'New DTMF/DID route'
Creating a new DTMF route
2. Now enter the users' routing number (extension for DTMF or virtual fax number for DID). For example, if you have a 4 digit DTMF, you enter the 4 last numbers in this dialog and click OK. The DTMF number will appear in the right pane of the FAXmaker configuration. You can also enter a range of DTMF numbers.
Optionally you can specify 'Force number to have this amount of digits - this will cause a range of, for example, 1- 100 to be noted as 0001-0100 (if you specify 4)
3. Now double-click on the DTMF number in the right pane. This will bring up the DTMF route properties. In the users tab, select to which user(s) the fax must be routed if the fax is received on this DTMF extension number.
Selecting a printer to auto print a fax on
4. You can also specify that any faxes received on this route should be printed on a particular printer. To do this, select the printers tab, enable `Automatically print faxes routed through this rule' and select the printer in the printer list box.
Note: You must configure any printers you wish to use in an inbound route in the printers node. If you do not have any printers configured, this tab will appear greyed out. For information on how to configure printers, see the previous paragraph `general routing options'.
Line specific DTMF routing options
Note that a number of DTMF options are line/Device specific, for example on which lines to enable DTMF routing. Therefore these need to be set-up from the Line/Device configuration - Advanced tab.
