GFI LANguard S.E.L.M. System requirements
- Windows 2000 Pro or Server, Windows XP professional or Windows .NET servers. Windows NT is not supported.
- Message Queuing Services. (will be installed automatically during set-up. Ensure you have Windows 2000 PRO or Server CD handy when running set-up)
- Server/clients which are to be monitored must be running Windows NT/2000 or XP.
- Auditing must be enabled on the machines that you wish to monitor. A default Windows NT/2000 installation has auditing disabled. To enable auditing, either use a Group policy (if you have AD) to enable auditing domain wide, or use LANguard S.E.L.M. to enable auditing automatically locally. Note: If you have a GPO that switches off auditing it will override local auditing settings made by LANguard S.E.L.M.!
Database format to be used
SQL format: Depending on which database format you wish to use, you might require to install either SQL server 7 and up, or Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE). MSDE is a mini version of SQL and is included for free on the Office CD.
Access format: This option will store events in Access format (*.mdb). You do not have to have Microsoft Access installed to use this option. Note that this option is less performant then the SQL format option, although data management is a little easier.
