Important security events page
The Important security events tab is probably the most important tab of the LANguard S.E.L.M. monitor. You must regularly monitor this tab – it shows all critical and high security events occurring on your network. Double-clicking on a security event will give you detailed information to allow you to follow up any important security event that you are interested in investigating further. Critical/High security events will be listed until you mark them as 'followed up'. You can mark a security event as followed up by right clicking on the event and selecting 'followed up'

By default, both critical and high security events are treated as important security events. You can select which security event categories are important security events and want to be notified about from Tools > Options…> Notification rules page.
You can also configure LANguard S.E.L.M. status monitor to play a sound of your choice to notify you on the occurrence of an important security event.
The LANguard S.E.L.M. monitor notification parameters options
To configure LANguard S.E.L.M. on whether you want to be notified on the occurrence of important notification events and whether you want a sound to be played on such occurrences:
1. Bring up the GFI LANguard S.E.L.M. status monitor by double clicking on the LANguard S.E.L.M. icon in the tray bar.
