3 Import and export emails : 3.1 Import emails from Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes
3.1.1
The GFI PST-Exchange Email Export wizard enables you to extract emails from Microsoft Exchange mailboxes. Emails can then be imported into the GFI MailArchiver archive stores.
NOTE: Before adding data stores in the GFI MailArchiver Import Service, ensure that archive stores are first configured as described in the Setting up databases chapter in page 1 of this manual.
1. Click Start ► Program ► GFI MailArchiver ► Import Tools ► GFI MailArchiver Import Service Configuration.
2. Click Change Settings to access the archive stores.
3. Click Add Store to launch the Add new store dialog.
4. From the Name drop-down list, select one of the archive stores. (Only archive stores created previously in GFI MailArchiver are shown)
5. From the From and To calendars, specify a date range for this archive store.
NOTE: Dates should not overlap with dates specified in other archive stores.
6. Click OK to add the new archive store.
8. On configuring all the required archive stores, click Apply Settings and Close to save settings.

4. Change the date range from the From: and To: calendars and click OK.

1. From the GFI MailArchiver machine, navigate to <GFI MailArchiver installation path>\MAIS\
2. Share the folder Pickup to give full read and write permissions to the remote machine from where the GFI PST-Exchange Email Export wizard is going to be run. To share a folder:
b. Select Share this folder and click Permissions button to enter the Permissions dialog.
f. Click OK to add the user in the Permissions dialog.
h. Click OK to save and exit the Permissions dialog.
i. Click OK to save and exit the folder properties sharing dialog.
d. Select Share and click Done.
5. Run eewiz.exe and proceed to step 2 of the next chapter.
NOTE: It is recommended to remove these permissions after extracting the mailboxes.
2. Navigate to Servers ► <Server Name><Storage Group>, right click on the Mailbox Store and select Properties.
3. Select the Security tab.
4. Click Advanced button and uncheck Allow inheritable permissions… checkbox.
6. Click OK to apply changes and return to the Mailbox Store Security properties.
7. In the Security tab, select Administrator from the Group or user names.
8. From the Permissions list check the Allow check boxes for Receive As and Send As.
9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 to allow Receive As and Send As permissions for:

a. Navigate to Start Run, type services.msc, and click OK.
b. In the Results pane, right-click Microsoft Exchange Information Store service and click Restart.
NOTE: Replace the Mailbox Store with the name of the mailbox store which contains the mailboxes of the users:
1. Launch the GFI PST-Exchange Email Export wizard by navigating to Start ► Programs ► GFI MailArchiver ► Import Tools ► GFI PST-Exchange Email Export.
3. Select the Microsoft Exchange Server option.
Select the Current User checkbox to logon using the credentials of the current user, or
Specify the logon credentials in the Exchange Server name, User name and password text boxes.
NOTE: To specify a non-default port number or you have multiple virtual folders, you can alter the connection string manually in the box on top of the Mailboxes list.
6. To extract emails from the public folders, select the Extract from Public Folders checkbox and skip to step 8.
7. Specify the mailboxes to be added by clicking Add mailbox. In the Active Directory object-picker dialog box, enter a username and click OK.
8. Click Next when all mailboxes are added. The Export wizard will check if the username and password specified have read/write access to the mailboxes specified.
NOTE: To select all the sub-folders underneath a specific folder node, hold the CTRL key pressed and click the check box to the left of the parent folder.
Click Next when all the required email folders are selected.
11. When extracting emails from Public Folders, the Select Owner dialog is displayed. Specify email owner in the Owner text box.
Example: If user@testdomain.com is specified in the Owner field, imported public folders emails are displayed under user@testdomain.com.
Click Next to proceed.
12. From the Select Destination dialog, select a folder where to store the extracted emails.
NOTE 1: To import the emails into the GFI MailArchiver archive store select the location of the GFI MailArchiver Import Service pickup folder: <GFI MailArchiver installation path>\MAIS\Pickup.
NOTE 2: To import emails into the GFI MailArchiver archive store when running wizard on a remote machine, specify shared pickup folder on the GFI MailArchiver machine.
Click Next to proceed.

15. Click Finish to close the GFI PST-Exchange Email Export wizard.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If 500 or more emails are located in the Unclassified folder, the import process will be suspended. In this case, delete any unwanted emails or import emails to an archive folder:

3. Right-click GFI MailArchiver Import Service and click Stop.
4. Navigate to Unclassified folder.
6. Return to the services management console, right-click GFI MailArchiver Import Service and select Start.
