NOTE 1: Microsoft Outlook must be installed on the machine running the GFI MailArchiver Email Export wizard.
NOTE 2: During extraction, emails in PST files are copied and the PST file is left in its original state.
NOTE: Before adding data stores in the GFI MailArchiver Import Service, ensure that archive stores are first configured as described in the
Setting up databases chapter in page
1 of this manual.
2. Click Change Settings to access the archive stores.
4. From the Name drop-down list, select one of the archive stores. (Only archive stores created previously in GFI MailArchiver are shown)
5. From the From and
To calendars, specify a date range for this archive store.
NOTE: Dates should not overlap with dates specified in other archive stores.

2. Share the Pickup folder to give full read and write permissions to the remote machine from where the GFI PST-Exchange Email Export wizard is going to be run. To share a folder:
b. Select Share this folder and click
Permissions button to enter the Permissions dialog.
f. Click OK to add the user in the Permissions dialog.
h. Click OK to save and exit the Permissions dialog.
i. Click OK to save and exit the folder properties sharing dialog.
Run GFI PST-Exchange Email Export wizard to extract emails from PST file.
4. Click Add PST File and select PST file to extract. Repeat for each PST file to be added. Click
Next when all PST files are added.
NOTE: To select all the sub-folders underneath a specific folder node, hold the
CTRL key pressed and click the check box to the left of the parent folder.
Click Next when all the required email folders are selected.
7. From the Select Owner dialog, specify an owner of the emails in the
Owner text box.
For example: If user@testdomain.com is specified in the
Owner box, the GFI MailArchiver interface will display the imported emails under user@testdomain.com.
8. From the Select Destination dialog, select a folder where to store the extracted emails.
NOTE 1: To import the emails into the GFI MailArchiver archive store select the location of the GFI MailArchiver Import Service pickup folder:
<GFI MailArchiver installation path>\MAIS\Pickup.
NOTE 2: To import the emails into the GFI MailArchiver archive store when running the wizard on a remote machine, specify the shared pickup folder on the GFI MailArchiver machine.
9. The wizard is now ready to start the extraction. Select Export Folder Structure Data checkbox, to keep the folder structure of the mailboxes selected. Click
Next to start the extraction process.
11. Click Finish to close the GFI PST-Exchange Email Export wizard.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If there are 500 or more emails in the Unclassified folder, the import process will be suspended. In this case, delete any unwanted emails or import the emails to an archive folder as follows:
