Upgrading from GFI MailEssentials 9 and 10

NOTE: Only GFI MailEssentials version 9 and 10 can be upgraded to GFI MailEssentials 11.

NOTE: Upgrades cannot be un-done: i.e. you cannot revert back to version 9 or 10 once you have installed the upgrade.

If you are currently using GFI MailEssentials 9 or 10, you can upgrade your current installation. All version 9 and 10 configuration settings will be kept. You will need to enter a new license key within 30 days of installing the upgrade. For information on how to obtain the new license key, visit http://customers.gfi.com.

To upgrade:

Screenshot 3 - Confirm the upgrade

1. Launch the GFI MailEssentials 11 setup file on the machine on which you have installed GFI MailEssentials. Setup will prompt you on whether you wish to remove the current version of GFI MailEssentials and install GFI MailEssentials 11.

2. Setup will now proceed to install GFI MailEssentials 11 in exactly the same manner as a new installation (for a detailed description, see this chapter). However it will not let you change the destination folder.

This section applies to GFI MailEssentials 9 users only.

After setup has copied the files, setup will notify you that it will convert the Bayesian weights file to the new GFI MailEssentials 11 format. The New format is more compact and uses less memory. During this conversion process a progress dialog box is displayed on screen.

Once the conversion is ready, click on the Finish button to complete the upgrade.
