If you don't have Exchange 2000 You can view the outbound SMTP connections in the Internet Services manager > SMTP server > connections node. All active connections will be listed here. However on fast internet lines, the connections will appear and go very quickly. You can monitor the mail essentials machine remotely, by starting up the Internet Services manager remotely, and then connecting to the Mail essentials machine using the Connect to a different computer option in the Action menu of the Internet Services manager applet. To see how many mails you have in the queue you must use explorer and go to the inetpub\mailroute\queue directory. Here you will see a queue of all mails awaiting delivery.
