Installing Mail essentials
Before you install Mail essentials, please check the following:
- Ensure that your mail server is running correctly and is able to send and receive SMTP mail. If you are not sure, check whether you can send and receive e-mail messages via the Internet.
- Make sure you are logged on as an Administrator.
Step 1: Run Mail essentials set-up by double-clicking the file mes.exe on the machine on which you wish to install Mail essentials.
Step 2: Select the language in which you want Mail essentials to appear and click OK. A welcome dialog will appear. Close other Windows programs and click Next.
Step 3: Confirm the License agreement.
Step 4: Enter your Name, company, and serial number. If you are evaluating the product, leave the default serial number as Evaluation. Click Next.

Step 5: Select which mail server you wish to use. If your mail server is not listed, select 'Other SMTP/POP3 server'
Step 6 : Set-up will now ask you to specify your IP and your local domain.

Step 7: Set-up will now ask you to specify the administrator email address. Enter the e-mail address of the Administrator.

Step 8: Set-up will now ask you where you want Mail essentials to be installed. Mail essentials will need approximately 30 MB of free hard disk space. In addition to this, you must reserve approximately 200 MB for temporary files.
The set-up program will now copy all program files to the selected destination, and finish the installation by creating a GFI Mail essentials program group. Click Finish to finish set-up.
Note: If prior to installation you did not have IE5 installed, you will have to reboot your machine after the installation of Mail essentials 5
After Mail essentials has been installed, it will run the User synchronisation wizard.
