Remote configuration of Mail essentials

You can configure Mail essentials from a remote machine. To do this, you must install the Mail essentials configuration program on the remote machine from which you wish to configure Mail essentials.

Note: You need to have build 20010118 or later.

To install the configuration on a remote machine;

  1. Go to the machine where you wish to install the remote configuration. Load up Windows explorer and browse for the Mail essentials machine. You should see a share called 'Remoteinstall'. This share has been created automatically.
  2. Now run setup.exe. (do not copy the installation files locally).
  3. The configuration files will now be installed. After installation, you can access it from the Task bar menu under GFI Mail essentials remote configuration.

NOTE: If you can not access the share, then set up the read and write permissions to the following directories:

  • <Mail essentials root folder>\RemoteInstall (sharename RemoteInstall)
  • <Mail essentials root folder>\Data (sharename Data)
  • <%RootDrive%>\Program Files\Common Files\GFi Shared\GFIM\Data (sharename GFIMDat)

When ready check that you can actually read and write to the shares from the machine where the Remote configuration will be installed.
