Step 1: Binding another IP to your machine
There are 2 ways to do this:
1. Add an additional network card – the advantage of this is that you can assign a public IP to the Mail essentials virtual server and keep your Exchange Server private. You can also disable routing between the network cards.
2. Add an additional IP to the existing network card – To do this you must follow this procedure.
a. Open the Network and Dial-up Connections from the Start > Settings menu. Right click on the Local Area Connection interface and select properties. This will bring up the Local Area connection properties dialog.
b. Now click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and click on the Properties button. The TCP/IP Properties dialog will appear. Now click on the Advanced button to bring up Advanced TCP/IP settings. This dialog shows the current list of IP addresses assigned to your machine.

c. Click the Add button in the IP addresses section to add another IP. Enter an IP address which is on the same subnet as the current IP, but not used by another machine so as to avoid IP address conflicts. Click Add when ready.

d. In Advanced TCP/IP settings the additional IP will now be listed. Click OK to save and then exit the Local Area Connection interface properties.
