Step 1: Configuring Mail essentials to receive mail Mail essentials can receive inbound mail either via SMTP or by downloading mail from a POP3 mailbox. If you do not have a continuous connection to the internet, you will have to retrieve mail using Dialup & ETRN. For more information on this please see the chapter 'Mail configuration'. Note: You can use the POP3 downloader to receive mail without having to set-up an SMTP connection For more information on this, please see the chapter ' Mail configuration'. Note: If you installed Mail essentials 5 on a separate machine, i.e. not on your mail server machine, the MX record of your domain entry must be updated to point to the IP of the Mail essentials machine. Otherwise mail will continue to go to your mail server and bypass Mail essentials.
