Step 2: Adding another virtual SMTP server in Exchange 2000
1. Open the Exchange System Manager from the Microsoft Exchange program group.
2. Go to the node > Servers > your server name > protocols > SMTP > 'Default SMTP Virtual Server'. Right-click and select properties. The Default SMTP virtual server properties will appear. Ensure that the original IP is assigned to this server – by selecting the original IP from the IP address drop down list and selecting OK to exit the dialog.

3. Now return to the 'SMTP' node, right-click and select 'New SMTP virtual Server'. In the dialog requesting a name for the virtual server enter 'Mail essentials' and then press Next.

4. In the next dialog, select the IP address that we added in the first step (I.e. not the original IP) from the drop down list and click Finish. A second virtual SMTP server will now be created under the SMTP node.

Note: You don't need to configure the Mail essentials Virtual server to route mail to Exchange Server because this is done automatically by Exchange Server 2000.
