Step 3: Configure the Exchange virtual SMTP Server to relay mail to the Mail essentials Virtual Server

Advanced Delivery dialog

  1. Start up Exchange System Manager and go to Servers > Server name > Protocols > SMTP.
  2. Right-click on 'Default SMTP Virtual Server' (This is the virtual server used by Exchange) to bring up the properties dialog. Go to the 'Delivery' tab.
  3. In the delivery tab, click the 'Advanced' button to go to 'Advanced Delivery' dialog. In the 'Smart host:' field type the IP address assigned to the 'Mail essentials' smtp server enclosed in square brackets. (e.g.: [100.130.130.10] Click OK and exit from the 'Default SMTP Virtual Server' properties.
