Step 4: Allow the exchange server virtual server to relay mail through Mail essentials.
In this step we will configure the Mail essentials virtual server to allow relaying of mail from the Exchange Server 2000 virtual server.

Restricting use of your mail relay
- In Exchange System Manager > Servers > Server name > Protocols > SMTP, right-click on 'Mail essentials' SMTP Virtual Server to bring up the properties dialog.
- Go to the 'Access' tab, and click Relay

Adding the IP of the Default SMTP virtual server
3. In the Relay Restrictions dialog you have to select the IP which is binded to the 'Default SMTP virtual server' (The Exchange virtual server) To do this, select 'Only the list below' and click 'Add' to bring up the 'Computer' dialog.
4. Select 'Single Computer' and enter the IP of the Default SMTP virtual server. Click OK
5. You will return to the Relay restrictions dialog. Make sure that the option 'Allow all computers which successfully authenticate to relay, regardless of the list above' is checked. Click OK to exit relay restrictions and exit the M ail essentials SMTP virtual server properties.
