Selecting an update server

GFI MailSecurity can automatically search and download updates (e.g., virus definitions updates and Trojan & Executable Scanner definitions updates) from the selected GFI server. To select the preferred server:

1. Click on the Settings node to open the general settings page.

2. Click on the Updates tab and select a GFI Update Server from the Preferred server list:

http://update.gfi.com - Select this server if you are located in the US/Canada.
http://update.gfisoftware.com - Select this server if you are located in Europe or any other part of the world.

3. If you are connecting through a proxy server, check the Enabled proxy server check box. In the Proxy server and Port edit boxes specify the Machine Name / IP of the proxy server and the port to connect on respectively. If the proxy server requires authentication, check the Enable proxy authentication check box and specify the user name and password in the Username and Password edit boxes respectively.

4. Click on the Apply button to confirm your settings. Changes will take effect immediately.
