Overview

To use Policy-Based Routing (PBR), you should configure the interfaces on the Exinda appliance with the appropriate settings, using either the Exinda web UI or using the CLI.

This article provides step-by-step instructions on how to configure an out-of-path Exinda appliance for PBR on two subnets using the Exinda web UI.

Process

1. On the out-of-path Exinda appliance # 1, launch the Exinda web UI.
1. In the browser address field, type https://<Exinda_IP_address>.
2. Enter the username and password for the appliance.
3. Click Login.
• The Exinda web UI displays.
4. Ensure you are in Advanced mode.
2. Go to Configuration > System > Network > IP Address.
3. In the Interface Settings area, clear the BR10 checkbox.
• The bridge expands to display eth10 and eth11.
  
  NOTE: If you are running an Exinda virtual appliance, uncheck the BR2 option. The bridge expands to display eth2 and eth3.
4. Go to Configuration > System > Network > IP Address.
5. In the eth11 area, select PBR.
6. In the Static Addresses field, type the IP address and the netmask of the out-of-path Exinda appliance.
7. In the PBR Next-Hop Address field, type the IP address of the router.
8. Click on Apply Changes.
9. To save the changes to the configuration file, click Save in the status bar.
10. Go to Configuration > System > Tools > Console to launch the command-line console.
11. To set the parameters of eth11, type the following commands:
    
    

    hostname (config)# no interface eth11 dhcp
    
    hostname (config)# interface eth11 display
    
    hostname (config)# interface eth11 duplex auto
    
    hostname (config)# interface eth11 mtu 1500
    
    hostname (config)# no interface eth11 shutdown
    
    hostname (config)# interface eth11 speed auto

12. Repeat the above steps on the out-of-path Exinda appliance #2.
