This article provides a solution for resolving the error if the system fails to communicate with the Unicorn licensing servers.
When updating the license key, the server is reporting the error "An unknown error occurred. Could not load file or assembly unicorn.accountapi.client version=18.104.22.168".
This is caused by the system being unable to communicate with the GFI Licensing servers. Most commonly, this error has been seen on version 12.5 secure servers due to not having access to the Internet.
- Stop the GFI LanGuard services.
- Navigate to
- Locate the
toolcfg_licensing.xmland open it in your preferred text editor.
- Enter your new license key in the indicated location.
- Save the edited file.
- Restart the GFI LanGuard services.
The software will start with the new license key in place.
