Error: 'C-0001 - A registry access error occurred...' While Submitting a Fax Request

Overview

When the user tries to submit a fax request, the GFI FaxMaker Online client prompts the error:

"Error: An error was encountered while sending the fax. The error is: Error: C-0001 - A registry access error occurred. Make sure that you have read/write access to the GFI product registry section."

This article provides the steps to resolve it.


Environment

  • GFI FaxMaker Online client

 

Root Cause

Either the sender email address field is not present in the GFI FaxMaker Online client form or the logged user has insufficient permission to read from and write in the registry under the specified registry path.


Resolution

  1. Select View > Options > [TAB: Connection Settings] from GFI FaxMaker Fax Message form.

  2. Verify whether the sender email address is present. If not, please complete the field: email address and confirm the change with "OK".

  3. Otherwise, verify whether the logged user on the GFI FaxMaker Online client machine has full read/write access to the following registry path:

    • x86: HKLM\Software\GFI Fax & Voice \FAXmaker Client.

    • x64: HKLM\Software\Wow3432Node\GFI Fax & Voice \FAXmaker Client.
