PROBLEMThe mail test in the GFI FaxMaker Configuration Wizard is failing.
The Email2FaxGateway 'Send test email' in the GFI FaxMaker Configuration is failing.
- GFI FaxMaker
- All supported environments
Error : 'The transport failed to connect to the server.'This error occurs if you specified that SSL has to be used but the server is not configured for use with SSL. Disable SSL or configure SSL on the mail server. This error also occurs if the IP address of the mail server has not been specified correctly, or the connection is being blocked by a firewall or by the mail server itself. Check the firewall settings and check whether incoming connections from the GFI FaxMaker server are allowed.
Error: 'The server rejected one or more recipient addresses. The server response was: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for <email address>.'The GFI FaxMaker server connected, however, when specifying the domain of the recipients address, the mail server refused it. Most frequently this occurs because relaying is not allowed from the GFI FaxMaker server. Configure the SMTP server to accept relaying from the GFI FaxMaker machine's IP or allow relaying for the internal email domain only. For example: 'mycompany.com'.
Error: 'The server rejected the sender address. The server response was: 530 5.7.1 Client was not authenticated.'If the GFI FaxMaker server has more than one network interface card (NIC), you may need to configure the NIC properties to force traffic to the mail server to use the correct interface.
Error: 'The server rejected the sender address. The server response was: 530 5.7.3 Client was not authenticated.'Your mail server requires authentication and you have not entered the authentication details. Go back to the SMTP server configuration dialog by clicking the 'Back' button in the GFI FaxMaker Configuration Wizard and configure authentication details. You can also configure the SMTP server to accept anonymous SMTP connections (if it is only available to the intranet).
Error: 'The message could not be sent to the SMTP server. The transport error code was 0x80040217. The server response was not available.'This error is normally encountered when the authentication details are invalid. Go back to the SMTP server configuration dialog by clicking the 'back' button in the GFI FaxMaker Configuration Wizard and configure authentication details.
Note: If the above list did not help, close the GFI FaxMaker Configuration Wizard and from the GFI FaxMaker program group run the GFI FaxMaker Configuration Wizard again. Follow all pages carefully to configure GFI FaxMaker correctly, even the hardware setup pages.
Make sure that you enter the SMTP setting correctly while configuring the SMTP server in the GFI FaxMaker Configuration Wizard since the SMTP server will be contacted for validity when the 'Next' button is clicked. When configuring for 'other mail servers/Lotus Notes' the POP3 server will also be contacted for mailbox validity. If you have problems and want to skip all these tests you can use the Email2Fax Gateway properties from the GFI FaxMaker Configuration.
