PROBLEM

Running out of disk space when exporting a large number of emails from GFI Archiver using the Import Export Tool and the Restore to the following email address option.

A large amount of files is taking up disk space within the subfolders of: ..\GFI\Archiver\Core\SMTP

ENVIRONMENT

  • GFI Archiver
  • All supported environments 

SOLUTION

  • Confirm the SMTP settings under Configuration > General Settings are correct and that GFI Archiver send emails to the configured mail server
  • Increase the space available on drive GFI Archiver is installed
  • Depending on export criteria, consider using the Mailbox Restore Tool instead of the Import Export Tool

CAUSE

When restoring emails from GFI Archiver to an email address, the messages are temporarily stored in the ..\GFI\Archiver\Core\SMTP directory before being sent according to the SMTP settings in GFI lArchiver and will temporarily take up additional disk space.
