SummarySNMP monitoring tools reports Exinda has restarted, but there is no indication of restart in logs, just some clusterd notices
OverviewWhen the cluster interface connection is lost, the corresponding logical interface goes missing, and this is the exha interface.
In the logs you will see the following:
snmpd: [snmpd.NOTICE]: Interface exha1 has gone missing. Restarting snmpd to clear it out of data structures
The snmpd process restarts to clear data structures after this. When some monitoring tools loose connection to the snmpd process when it is restarting they report this as the device has restarted. The logical interface which is "exhaX" (X being any random number) increases the counter of X every time snmpd process restarts. This is normal behaviour on the Exinda for the snmpd process to restart after a change in the network. Setting up an alert on the Exinda is a better indication on whether the Exinda has rebooted or not.
