OverviewUser cannot log into the WebUI (SSH and Console access are still available) as he receives the following warning:
"Your session is no longer valid"
User might also have received a disk full warning
In v7, authentication towards the appliance is done via the mysql database. If such database is not available then the user will not be able to access the WebUI (SSH and Console access are still available). Usually the database is not accessible because
1> User just upgraded their appliance and the database upgrade is still processing in the back end
2> Database gets corrupt, due to a reboot of the device immediately after an upgrade while the database was still in the process of upgradation
Rebooting the box while mysql process is upgrading could cause corruption. It is recommended that after an upgrade, even if the graphs are not visible, let the Exinda idle for at least 1-2 hours to let the mysql process upgrade on its own.
It is also possible that the mysql process requires a restart.
There is also a new process called jboss that might require a restart. This process is also in charge of the WebUI
Another cause could be that the browser cookies are not letting the login page load.
Resolution1. Wait for 15-20 minutes after the upgrade and give your Exinda box time to upgrade the database
2. You can try clearing the browser cache and wait for some time (5-10mins) before trying to access the login page again
3. Go to an SSH Session to the Exinda and type in "service jboss restart" in the config mode and then run step 1
If none of the above help, please contact Exinda support
Change Log8/26/16: Added commands to restart datad and collectord as they are both required to be restarted once the database is back online - removed following lines from the 3rd optional step. [admin@exinda~] # cd /var/data/monitor admin@exinda monitor]# rm -rf * - if above rm command is accidentally issued in the wrong location, damage could be done to the system as there would be no prompting to remove data
Internal NotesIf none of the steps above work, 1.- Install the restricted license for the appliance having the issue
exinda(config)# license install LK2-RESTRICTED...
2.- Restart jboss and mysqld and wait for 5 minutes
exinda(config)# pm process mysqld restart
exinda(config)# pm process jboss restart
3.- (Optional) If after 5 minutes the below step still did not work and user cannot access the WebUI, we will need to wipe the database. This means the Exinda will not contain any historical reports and will start monitoring from the moment the database is cleared, First terminate mysqld, delete the contents of the /var/data/monitor directory and then restart mysqld process again:
exinda(config)# pm process mysqld terminate
[admin@exinda~] # rm -rf /var/data/monitor/*
admin@exinda monitor]# cli
exinda# pm process mysqld restart
exinda# pm process datad restart
exinda# pm process collectord restart
Then wait for 5 minutes
