SummaryWhat changes you need on the Exinda for a mirror port
OverviewThis covers the configuration that is needed on the Exinda for the mirror port. A mirror port can be configured on the Exinda in order to accept data on the swtich without the Exinda being in line in the network path. This allows for benefits, as it allows for all of the information to be seen without adding another device that can fail. By using mirror / SPAN ports, it is not possible to control the traffic, but it can be entirely monitored.
To configure the mirror or SPAN port, it can be done in on the Exinda, but requires additional mirror/SPAN configuration to be done on the switch it will be connected to. On the Exinda, navigate to Configuration --> System-->Network--> IP Address tab
1. If wanting to use one of the ports that are already in a bridge then it be necessary to have to disable the bridge by deselecting the checkmark on the bridge to separate it into 2 ports.
2. Select the role of the interface as a mirror. That is the configuration on the Exinda.
Additional InformationOnce Mirror/SPAN monitoring is enabled and the appropriate Internal Network Objects have been defined, the Exinda appliance will monitor traffic received on the Mirror/SPAN receiving port as if it were in-line.
The only exception is the Interface Reports will be blank, because the Exinda appliance has no concept of packet direction at the Interface level.
