SummaryEdge cache does not seem to be crashing but it is also not being observed on the real time monitor
OverviewWhen the edge cache service does not seem to be crashing as shown in the logs (no red error messages, no problem with any other operation of the Exinda appliance) but there is no blue striping shown on the real time monitor, there is most likely a problem with the configuration of the edge cache and where it is being applied.
CauseIt is possible that edge cache, though enabled, is not hitting any traffic because it is not turned on for generic HTTP traffic, which it needs to do in order to operate. No matter how many other policies have edge cache enabled on them, nothing is showing up.
When looking at the optimizer policies (Configuration > Optimizer), a defined "web" policy does not have Edge Cache enabled on it.
- Go into the defined "Web" policy and turn on Edge Cache by checking the Acceleration button and ensuring the drop down is set to 'Edge Cache'.
- Save changes.
- Restart the optimizer.
- Check 'Real Time Monitoring'. If blue is seen, edge cache is operating properly.
