SummaryIn versions of firmware before v6.4.5, after a reboot, during a period of time where datad cannot connect to the database, as the database is not online, it will send out emails with the above message
OverviewAfter rebooting an Exinda appliance on a firmware prior to v6.4.5, multiple emails are received stating that there was an "Unexpected exit of datad".
CauseWhen the Exinda appliance starts up, the processes come online as quickly as they can. Occasionally, the database is delayed in starting up due to processing or Disk IO limitations. Processes that rely on the database being there by the time they start up, including datad, will throw an error and stop executing, attempting to restart in order to get a connection. Depending on how long the database can take to get up, the processes will try multiple times and fail. By default, the Exinda sends out an email notification when processes fail like this.
Prior to v6.4.5, these email notifications were sent out during bootup sequence, even though the process would eventually come up with no problems once the connection to the database was established.
