SummaryOn various versions of the Exinda firmware, it is possible, in examining the logs during a reboot procedure to see a mdc_send_mgmt_msg_raw assertion failure. In general, these errors have no problem
OverviewOn the Exinda firmware, the kernel logs generated by a reboot are located in the standard Exinda loog. After a reboot, it is possible to go back and review these logs. During the reboot process, before everything is initialized, it is possible to see the following message in the logs:
mpmd: [mpmd.ERR]: mdc_send_mgmt_msg_raw(), mdc_main.c:117, build 1: Error code 14002 (assertion failed) returned
CauseWhen the Exinda reboots, the primary management process mgmtd needs to start up and initialize. The management process is central - all other processes require communication to it in order to properly function. mgmtd restarts with the device but depending on device load, hardware and the traffic going through it, it can take a varying amount of time for the process to come online. This error occurs when another process cannot talk to the management process. The above error is an 'assertion failed', meaning that a condition that the second process assumed was true was actually false.
When the process is attempting to talk to the management process but the management process is not ready, this error can be returned instead.
