SummarySling TV is known to have some problems with edge cache operation in v7.0.3, leading to constant buffering
OverviewSling TV is a service that provides television channels via the internet, to set top boxes and TVs. In v7.0.3 (build number 3497), it can be seen that Sling TV feeds constantly require buffering, or display the message that it's "Catching Up" but does not resume standard operating behaviour, when the traffic is going through an Exinda with edge cache enabled.
CauseWhile the exact root cause is unknown, it is possible that the edge cache engine is trying to both capture and serve the stream, which leads to confusion, causing all activity to Sling TV to stop.
ResolutionOne resolution is to create an edge cache exception for 'movetv.com'. This is done under Configuration > System > Optimization on the "Edge Cache" tab. There is an option to "Add A URL/Domain" for an edge cache exception. This will ensure that Sling TV services will not be affected.
Additional InformationIf after adding the exception to edge cache, the service still doesn't operate, consider updating the firmware to a more recent version, and contact Exinda TAC for assistance.
