Generic Site Streams is a feature within GFI WebMonitor that prevents websites from delivering multi-media content on demand, such as video, presentations, podcasts and Internet radio. The users are still able to access the site, but they will not be able to play the digital content embedded therein. Examples of websites that deliver this type of content include YouTube, Tudou, MegaVideo, IceCase, ShoutCast, Vimeo and MetaCafe.
Constant automatic updates ensure that GFI WebMonitor is able to block any new formats released.
To add a policy that blocks Generic Site Streams:
- Go to Settings > Policies > Internet Policies
- In the Streaming Media Policies area, click Add Policy
- In the Filter area, locate Generic Site Streams and click Block
- Finish configuring the rest of the policy to your liking, then click Save
Note: Some of the rules require HTTPS Scanning to be enabled in order to work correctly.
