Overview

The user may be unable to connect to the serial console on the Exinda, receiving the following log errors:

Apr 8 05:42:49 HOST agetty[10257]: /dev/ttyS0: tcgetattr: Input/output error
Apr 8 05:42:59 HOST init: serial main process (10257) terminated with status 1
Apr 8 05:42:59 HOST init: serial main process ended, respawning

The issue is that serial main process terminates and respawns. This article provides a resolution for this issue.

Root Cause

The hardware serial port is not available to the underlying ExOS causing the software driver to crash and be respawned.

Resolution

Currently, the only resolution is to reboot the appliance.
