Overview

  • In some environments, restarting the Optimizer can lead to an unexpected shutdown.
  • This can sometimes take up to a few days to manifest and similar logs may appear on the device after the Optimizer restart:
Mar 6 16:36:52 exinda snmpd[4596]: [snmpd.NOTICE]: Interface ifb_vc0 has gone missing. Restarting snmpd to clear it out of data structures

  • Please note that these messages do not always indicate an error or that an unexpected shutdown WILL happen

Cause

  • This is caused by a known software defect in which there is a problem with freeing up allocated memory.

Resolution

  • Upgrade to latest firmware, a bug-fix is implemented which will resolve this specific reason for unexpected shutdowns.
