Adding a Range of Port Ending at 65535 Crashes the Exinda

Summary

When adding a new application to the Exinda by TCP or UDP port range, and having an ending value of Port 65535, the Exinda will crash upon attempting to add it.

Overview

Adding an application by TCP Port Range is a common practice in the Exinda and it's one that is often used in environments where custom applications are needed to classify and monitor various types of traffic. It has been found then when trying to add a port range of any size that ends on port 65535 (ie, X-65535), regardless of whether it is TCP or UDP, any Exinda will crash and reboot automatically.

Cause

This is a known defect with how the Exinda internally processes ports to add to an application, though the exact root cause is unknown.

Workaround

The workaround at this time is to add the port range of the starting point to 65534, and then add a single TCP or UDP port of 65535. This will behave as expected and will still cover the entire range required.
