Overview

The following error is encountered when the Bayesian Analysis Wizard is being installed on a Microsoft Windows 8 machine:

Error 1720. There is a problem with this Windows installer package.

Environment

• GFI MailEssentials
• Microsoft Windows 8

Root Cause

To successfully install the Bayesian Analysis Wizard on a Microsoft Windows 8 machine, .NET Framework 3.5 must be installed first.

Resolution

Follow the steps below to install .NET Framework 3.5 on a Microsoft Windows 8 machine:

1. Open the Control Panel, click Programs and then click Turn Windows features on or off.
2. In the Windows Features dialog, enable the .NET Framework 3.5 feature and click OK.
   • NOTE: The installation of .NET Framework 3.5 might ask you to connect to Microsoft Windows updates to download the required files.
3. When the installation of .NET Framework 3.5 is complete, click the Close button.
