PROBLEM

The GFI MailEssentials Pop2Exchange plugin downloads emails very slowly.

SOLUTION

When troubleshooting a GFI MailEssentials Pop2Exchange issue, especially in regard to the download speed, always check the number of mailboxes the user is downloading email from.

GFI MailEssentials Pop2Exchange was designed to work with a smaller amount of mailboxes. There is not a hard limit set, but it should work properly with around 50 mailboxes. If more than 50 mailboxes are added, then download speeds will decrease.

CAUSE

A large number of mailboxes being downloaded at the same time from a POP3 server might slow down the process by the service provider.
