PROBLEM

When scanning remote machines using GFI LanGuard, Novell server/clients crash.

ENVIRONMENT

• Novell NetWare 6.x
• All Supported Environments

SOLUTION

An update patch available from Novell resolves this issue. More information on this issue and the update patch can be found at http://secunia.com/advisories/14874.

CAUSE

This occurs on machines which have their IP address assigned via DHCP and while GFI LANguard is scanning open ports for the identification of common services. Any writes on port 2049 will generate a crash on the Novell system.
