Invalid Chinese Characters When Exporting Reports to PDF

Overview

Some invalid Chinese characters are experienced when exporting reports from GFI LanGuard to PDF. This article shows how to identify the problem and how to resolve it.

Environment

LanGuard 2015 (20150130)

Identification

  1. Go to the 'Reporting' tab.
  2. Generate a new Software Audit report
  3. Export the report to PDF.
  4. Open the report and check if any Chinese characters are converted to square blocks.

Resolution

Apply LANGUARD TT2621 PATCH 2 from the GFI Software FTP site.

If the issue persists, get a copy of the report in PDF as well as HTML format, and contact GFI LanGaurd support.
