An error below is displayed when trying to start the GFI LanGuard 11 Attendant Service.

The parameter is incorrect. Error Code 87.

Root Cause

The GFI LanGuard11 Attendant Service has become corrupted.

Resolution

1. Delete HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\services\gfi_lnass11_attservice node from the registry.
2. Reboot the server.
3. Repair GFI LanGuard:
   1. Double-click the GFI LanGuard installer.
   2. Go to the temp folder created, typically under <%temp%\LanGuard11Resources>.
   3. Copy this folder to the desktop.
   4. Cancel the installer.
   5. Go to Control Panel > Add or remove programs or Uninstall a program > Select GFI LanGuard  > Repair. Point the repair to the folder that you copied the files.
