Overview

When performing a scan the following error is returned:

Failed to open policy on the remote system

Environment

• GFI Languard
• All Support Environments

Root Cause

This error normally appears when scanning machines on a different domain.

Resolution

To resolve this you should set GFI LanGuard to use alternate credentials for the scan. The credentials must contain the domain name and be entered in one of the following combinations:

• domain\username
• username@FQDN
