Error: 'C-0007 - Send failed:....' While Submitting a Fax Request Using SMTP

Overview

When the user tries to submit a fax request using SMTP as the connection type, the GFI FaxMaker Online client prompts the error:

"Error: An error was encountered while sending the fax. The error is: C-0007 - Send failed: make sure that you have your SMTP settings from the GFI FaxMaker Message Form options correctly set up."

This article provides the steps to resolve this issue.

Environment

GFI FaxMaker Online client (SMTP option)

Root Cause

Either the sender email address is not present, or the SMTP server is not reachable or does not allow to relay the outbound email fax request.

Resolution

Select View > Options > [TAB: Connection Settings] from GFI FaxMaker Fax Message form.
Verify whether the option Email (SMTP) is selected and if so, whether the sender email address is present.
Verify whether the selected SMTP server is reachable using:
```
PING <SMTP SERVERNAME>
```
If so, please perform:
```
TELNET <SMTP SERVERNAME 25>
```
to verify whether SMTP relay is operational.

NOTE: The default SMTP server is smtpfax1.gfifax.com on port 25, if not otherwise specified by the user.
