GFI EndPointSecurity Installations and GFI EndPointSecurity Agents

Overview

This article provides information about the GFI EndPointSecurity Installations and the GFI EndPointSecurity Agents.

Information

The GFI EndPointSecurity Agents need to connect to the GFI EndPointSecurity main installation. This connection is required to show which EndPointSecurity Agents are online and to transfer log information which will eventually be stored in the central database.

The GFI EndPointSecurity Agents can only connect to the GFI EndPointSecurity main installation which was used to deploy the agents. If the agent is updated by another EndPointSecurity main installation, only the last protection policy deployed on the machine will apply.

However, you may have 2 or more GFI EndPointSecurity installations used to monitor different machines. These can also be configured to log in to the same central database.

Note: In order to update GFI EndPointSecurity Agents which were not originally deployed by the same GFI EndPointSecurity installation, you would need to configure the same Agent Security password in both installations. This can be configured from the GFI EndPointSecurity Console > Configuration > Options > Advanced Options > Agent Security tab.
