Answer
DID routing through GFI FAXmaker is based on mapping different fax numbers to a particular set of GFI FaxMaker users. The DID can simply be considered as the set of digits which uniquely identify a called party number. We can break down the number received by GFI FaxMaker as follows:<fixed number> <varying number>
For example:
31312244 101
31312244 102
31312244 103
31312244 104
Therefore, DID routing is based on the varying number part. On receiving a fax, GFI FaxMaker follows the following steps:
-
Incoming FAX is detected
-
GFI FAXmaker retrieves the Called Party Number
-
The MSN list entries are compared against this number
-
In case of an MSN match GFI FaxMaker accepts the call and completes the reception otherwise the call is ignored
-
On completing reception a number of trailing digits from the Called Party Number are identified as the DID. The number of digits to be used are configured from the GFI FaxMaker Server Configuration
-
The extracted DID is compared to the routing tables in order to determine which GFI FaxMaker users are to receive a copy of the fax
