Overview
This article provides information on the configuration of FaxMaker XCAPI Licensing. The article involves information on viewing the licensing status, the two components of the XCAPI license, and the details on the trial license option.
Information
Before configuring XCAPI, you should stop the GFI FaxMaker services.
You should also be using the expert view, in order to work in the configuration. (Please, see the Process section on how to turn on the expert view.)
Components of XCAPI Licensing
There are two major components of XCAPI Licensing:
- Operational - This is the part of the license that allows XCAPI to work. This is purchased for the number of lines to be used. This part of the license is not timebound, i.e., it never expires.
-
SUS (software upgrade service) - The software upgrade service portion of the license will allow free upgrades to the XCAPI software for 1 year.
Info! When you have a valid XCAPI license and upgrade your FaxMaker, it will also upgrade XCAPI depending on the version/build. In this case, XCAPI does not work until the SUS license is updated or the XCAPI version is downgraded.
The Trial License
FaxMaker XCAPI has also a Trial License. The XCAPI trial license could be used for 2 lines. Although the trial license does not expire, it places a blue watermark at the bottom of the left-hand side of the fax pages.

Supplemental Information
Occasionally, you might need to move an XCAPI installation from one server to another. As XCAPI licenses are tied to a hardware ID, when the installation has moved, the license applied becomes invalid. In order to solve this issue, the hardware ID should be updated. Please refer to this article on Moving the XCAPI License to Another Machine, for more details.
