Clearing the GFI FaxMaker Processing Folders

Overview

When the GFI FaxMaker performance is degraded/slow, you may need to remove temporary files from the processing folders. This should restore optimal performance. To clear the GFI FaxMaker processing folders, please follow the steps below.

Note: Orphan files are usually caused by Antivirus or Backup software trying to access/scan critical files and folders of GFI FaxMaker while they are in use. To prevent this from happening, add the GFI FaxMaker folders to your Antivirus exclusions.

Process

  1. Stop the GFI FaxMaker services from the Services Management Console (go to Start > Run > type services.msc).
  2. Navigate to the GFI FaxMaker installation directory. The default installation folder for GFI FaxMaker is:
    • On Windows 32-bit: \Program Files\GFI\FaxMaker
    • On Windows 64-bit: \Program Files (x86)\GFI\FaxMaker
  3. Remove all files that are older than two days from the following folders and included subfolders:
    • \GFI\FaxMaker\process(typically, files should not reside in this folder for more than 24 hours)
    • \GFI\FaxMaker\out
    • \GFI\FaxMaker\out\pending
    • \GFI\FaxMaker\in

Note: Do not delete any folders when clearing the GFI FaxMaker processing folders. When deleting orphan files from the subfolders, you can remove the files that are older than 2-3 days.
