Error When Connecting to Exinda via SSH: Cluster Master Is Not Currently Known

Overview

When connected to Exinda through SSH, the following error is encountered:

This system is configured to be a member of a cluster, but the cluster master is not currently known. Shared configuration must be changed on the cluster master.

Root Cause

When the Exinda cluster loses access to the master, the cluster will be in an unknown status where the devices will not be able to recognize which is the master and which is the standby.

You may get the aforementioned notice when you log into the CLI; if this unknown status persists for a long time or if it continues, this means that there is a failure in the re-election of a master.

Resolution

  1. Reboot the cluster members.
  2. Disable the cluster and then re-enable it.
