Overview
This article explains how licensing and monitoring are related to Exinda.
A user has a license for 10Mbps on their Exinda. Does this limit their capabilities of monitoring traffic till 10Mbps?
Information
No! Monitoring on the Exinda is not dependent on the license of the appliance. It is only dependent on the actual hardware limitations - which means how much traffic can a specific model of Exinda support. Provided the traffic a user is monitoring is not being optimized, they can pass as much traffic as they want through the Exinda to monitor it (till the limit a specific model can handle).
So, if the license on the Exinda is 10Mbps, a user will be able to pass as much traffic as they want and it will not be limited to 10Mbps as long as that traffic is not being optimized.
If a user wants to control some traffic and ignore the rest, they can configure the optimizer to control some traffic up-till 10Mpbs and "IGNORE" the rest. See the screenshot below:
The above configuration enables optimization/control for P2P and Streaming. These applications will be restricted to 10Mbps. All other traffic will be "ignored" as per policy #3 and will not be limited to 10Mbps.
