Navigation Tree (Navigation Pane) in the UI is missing

Answer

PROBLEM

Navigation tree in GFI Mailessentials UI is missing.

ENVIRONMENT

  • GFI MailEssentials
  • All supported environments

SOLUTION

The reason this is happening is because the ASPNET user does not have access to <C:\Windows\Temp>.

To fix this:
  1. Right click the Temp folder and select Properties
  2. Go to the Security tab
  3. Click Add and add ASPNET account. In locations select your machine and ensure that it has read and write permissions.
    • If the ASPNET user is missing on the system, ensure the NETWORK SERVICE account has read and write permissions instead
  4. Attempt to load the MailEssentials configuration again. The tree view should come up.

CAUSE

Insufficient permissions for ASP on the Microsoft Windows Temp folder.
