Overview

GFI MailEssentials can be configured to update the Bayesian filter's database and the Anti-Phishing database from the GFI Software update servers.  A proxy is sometimes needed for HTTP internet access. Should the GFI MailEssentials server resides behind a proxy server, GFI MailEssentials would need to be configured to use the proxy server in question to download the required updates. The following article explains how to configure GFI MailEssentials to download updates using a proxy server.

Process

Follow the instructions provided below:

1. Open the GFI MailEssentials configuration.

2. Expand the General Settings node.

3. Select the Settings node and click the Updates tab.

4. Under the Updates tab, click the Configure proxy server button.

5. Enable the option Obtain updates through proxy server.

6. Enter the IP address and Port for the proxy server.

NOTE: If the proxy server requires authentication, enable the option Use the following credentials and define the username, password, and type of authentication used by the proxy server.
