How to switch modes from AD to SMTP and from SMTP to AD in GFI MailEssentials

Answer

To change from AD mode to SMTP mode (and vice versa) follow the below information:

Uninstall MailEssentials from add/remove programs
Once uninstalled go to start – run and type regedit. (Remember to back up your registry whenever making changes.)
Delete the following registry keys (they will be re-created during the re-install)
- If you have any other GFI products please delete the following registry keys,
  - [32 bit]: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GFI\MailEssentials
  - [64 bit]: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\GFI\MailEssentials
- If you do not have any other GFI Products delete the following registry key instead,
  - [32 bit]: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GFI
  - [64 bit]: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\GFI
Re-install GFI MailEssentials
During the reinstall you will be asked if you want to install in AD mode or SMTP mode. Be sure to choose the one you want and hit next.
