Problem Summary
Licensing only considers users from the local domain in a multi domain forest
TT / JIRAID

How to Identify
Let's consider the following scenario: The AD forest contains multiple domains: gfi.local - root domain - contains 5 users - the MARC server is a member of this domain de.gfi.local - child domain 1 - contains 30 users uk.gfi.local - child domain 2 - contains 40 users us.gfi.local - child domain 3 - contains 50 users User objects and mailboxes are spread across all of the domains. The licensing module of MARC queries AD to get a list of users / mailboxes. This query only returns the 5 users / mailboxes from the local domain (in the scenario above the root domain (gfi.local)) but no users / mailboxes from any of the other domains in the forest. Therefore MARC does not count users / mailboxes from the other domains. This can be seen looking at the user list in: ../core/debuglogs/usercntmaad.txt
Workaround / Fix Details
Fixed in MARC2014 build 20140616
Required Actions
Explain situation to the customer, attach this article and close the case. This should not affect a customer in a negative way. The negative factor is that MARC does count less users license-wise than it should.
