Error: "1312 Cannot create the directory C:\Program Files\GFI\Archiver\Core\Queue. A file with this name already exists." When Installing or Upgrading GFI Archiver

Overview

This article provides the steps to properly uninstall GFI Archiver to fix an issue you may encounter when the installation or upgrade of GFI Archiver fails and performs a rollback. An error in the marc*_x64.log or marc*_x86.log files located in the %temp% directory can be found after a failed installation:

Error 1312.Cannot create the directory C:\Program Files\GFI\Archiver\Core\Queue. A file with this name already exists. Please rename or remove the file and click Retry, or click Cancel to exit.

 

Information

The referenced folder was not removed during the uninstallation of the previous GFI Archiver version, resulting in a failed installation when it tries to create the folder.

 

Process

  1. Uninstall GFI Archiver via the Control Panel.
  2. Move the Queue folder out of the GFI Archiver folder structure (for example to C:\Temp).
  3. Install GFI Archiver into the same root folder (C:\Program Files\GFI\Archiverin the example above).
  4. Move all files from C:\Temp\queue to C:\Program Files\GFI\Archiver\Core\Queue.

 

Confirmation

You can install GFI Archiver successfully.
